The 3rd National Smart Cities Summit
The majority of the world's population now live in cities. In fact, it is estimated that 1,000,000 people move into the world's cities each week! With this enormous influx of population, new ideas and thinking is needed to improve quality of life i.e. as our planet gets more urban, our cities need to get smarter! It is against this backdrop, Cleantech Innovation & Investment is organising The 3rd National Smart Cities Summit (click here for details).
The summit will bring together planning and environmental professionals to discuss and debate the smart city vision. Amongst other things, it will examine the role technology now plays within society and how this role will evolve over the coming years. It will also evaluate the main limitations to sustainable development and how these issues can be overcome by implementing strategies that will benefit multiple generations.
The impressive speaker line up includes:
- Professor Siobhan Clarke, Director, Future Cities Centre
- Peter Finnegan, Director, Office of Economy & International Relations, Dublin City Council
- Andy O'Kelly, Chief Architect, eircom Business
- Professor Rob Kitchin, Director, National Institute of Regional & Spatial Analysis
- Michael Curran, Chairman, Dundalk 2020 Steering Committee

This year, the 3rd National Smart Cities Summit is actually part of a much bigger event, The Cleantech Innovation & Investment Summit, thus guaranteeing more choice and networking opportunities for all attendees.
